María Elena Mejía Cifuentes is the Founder and CEO of The LEAD Project LLC. Her international professional background includes 19 years of experience in nursing, 15 of them focused specifically on organ and tissue donation and transplantation across Venezuela, Colombia, and Spain. Her experience includes community education, communication with patients and families, coordination of educational initiatives, and collaboration with healthcare and community organizations.

International Training: Selected to represent Venezuela in the Master Alianza program of Spain’s National Transplant Organization (ONT), an international training initiative focused on organ donation and transplantation.
Community Education and Program Leadership: Led community education initiatives, professional training activities, and public outreach related to organ and tissue donation and transplantation.
National Transplant System Experience: Contributed to organ donation and transplantation activities within Colombia’s national health system, including coordination, monitoring, and quality-related processes.
Family and Community Communication: Supported educational communication with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and communities in organ and tissue donation and transplantation settings.
